10-Team Mock Draft from #9 Position (8/9/2024)

As promised in my last post, I decided to do a draft from the #9 position on FantasyPros Draft Simulator. Unfortunately, the computer player at #7 decided to reach for Marvin Harrison Jr.; so I was still able to get one of my Elite Eight from the #9 spot. FantasyPros graded this draft as a B+ (87/100). So, I'm improving!

Pick 1.09: Bijan Robinson RB. Consensus Top 3 RB. No reason even to consider A.J. Brown or Garrett Wilson here.

Pick 2.02: A.J. Brown WR. Especially when I can get A.J. Brown with the next pick, as the #10 slot took Saquon Barkley and Jonathan Taylor.

Pick 3.09: Jaylen Waddle WR. The FP suggestions were Michael Pittman, Jalen Hurts, Rachaad White, and Alvin Kamara. After the analysis from the last mock draft, I decided to pass on White and take the WR.

Pick 4.02: Rachaad White RB. And White came back to me, even though #10 took Josh Jacobs. I considered James Cook here, but White should still get a lot more receptions, I think.

Pick 5.09: Anthony Richardson QB. I was not excited about taking DK Metcalf, Amari Cooper, or Christian Kirk; so I reached to get the QB who had the highest fantasy football points per game last year.

Pick 6.02: Amari Cooper WR. I think I would have been better off taking Rhamondre Stevenson, James Conner, or Najee Harris here. There are just a lot of flex-worthy WRs still around at this point.

Pick 7.09: Tee Higgins WR. See above comment. Tank Dell and Keenan Allen are still around.

Pick 8.02: Rashee Rice WR. I am thin at RBs; so I probably should have taken Zamir White or Brian Robinson or even Tony Pollard here.

Pick 9.09: Evan Engram TE. FP was still suggesting more WRs: Jayden Reed, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, DeAndre Hopkins, Jordan Addison. I wanted to wait on TE to grab Jake Ferguson in Round 10, but I just didn't like the other options here.

Pick 10.02: Jayden Daniels QB. I seem to be consistently grabbing Daniels in Round 10 now. I still need RB depth, and Devin Singletary and Austin Ekeler are on the board here.

Pick 11.09: Chuba Hubbard RB. Hubbard could well be the lead back for Carolina. Better than grabbing Zack Charbonnet, Trey Benson, or Blake Corum, who all need injuries to occur before they are #1 backs.

Pick 12.02: J.K. Dobbins RB. Talented back, who should definitely get some playing time with the Chargers.

Pick 13.09: Chiefs DST. Brandon Aubrey was an available kicker, but my rule for now is take a DST before a kicker.

Pick 14.02: Jason Sanders K.
