12-Team Mock Draft from Position #3 (FantasyPros Sim) 8/15/2024

Well, I did create a tier sheet, and then I forgot to use it for this FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator. Three of my top four receivers have byes in Week 6, which would hurt me here. I need to pay more attention to the bye week before clicking that Draft button. FP gave me a B- (81/100), which was a measly one-point improvement over yesterday's draft and a projected sixth place finish out of 12 teams.

Pick 1.03: Tyreek Hill WR (bye 6). I think Tyreek should go #2 overall because CeeDee Lamb's status is still up in the air a little. Should I consider an RB here? Projections are Breece Hall (301.1)+Jaylen Waddle (228.3) versus Tyreek (325.1)+Rachaad White (237.0), nearly two points a game; so taking the WR here is much better.

Pick 2.10: Cooper Kupp WR (bye 6). Stacking my top two picks with the same bye week doesn't seem like a good move. If I had recognized I was doing this, I would have taken Drake London or Brandon Aiyuk here instead.

Pick 3.03: Rachaad White RB (bye 11). Now, I did briefly consider the possibility of just giving up on Week 6 and going all in with De'Von Achane (also week 6 bye) here. Or even Jaylen Waddle. I wonder whether anybody has considered the merits of drafting three or four top players all with the same bye week, so that you'll be a full strength every other week.

Pick 4.10: James Cook RB (bye 12). Like Cook better than Joe Mixon. Malik Nabers was still available here for those high on him. Mark Andrews went with the next pick; so he didn't fall to Round 5 like in the last draft.

Pick 5.03: Tee Higgins WR (bye 12). If I'm going to knock Ja'Marr Chase for holding out, I should bump up Tee Higgins a little. Christian Kirk here seems too pricey to me. Anthony Richardson would be taken later in this round, as would four TEs and Kenneth Walker.

Pick 6.10: Kyler Murray QB (bye 7). Again, this seemed to be a good spot to grab Kyler, rather than an RB (David Montgomery, Zamir White), WR (Rashee Rice), or TE (Jake Ferguson).

Pick 7.03: Rashee Rice WR (bye 6). Third receiver on bye for week 6. Taking Najee Harris or D'Andre Swift to shore up my questionable RB stable might have been better. Or Diontae Johnson or Calvin Ridley to give me a WR I can use during week 6.

Pick 8.10: Jake Ferguson TE (bye 7). Best RB left is Austin Ekeler. Receivers offered were Jaxon Smith-NJigba, Courtland Sutton, and Xavier Worthy. So, I think taking a startable TE was a good priority here.

Pick 9.03: Jonathon Brooks RB (bye 11). Trying to bolster my RBs. Chase Brown and Jerome Ford were other options here.

Pick 10.10: Joshua Palmer WR (bye 5). Tyler Lockett was the only other WR worth taking.

Pick 11.03: J.K. Dobbins RB (bye 5). Or Chuba Hubbard. Both could be #1 backs for their respective teams to start the season.

Pick 12.10: Ty Chandler RB (bye 6). Not surprisingly, Hubbard didn't make it back to me.

Pick 13.03: Jets DST (bye 12). It will be eighteen picks before I get another pick; so grabbing my DST early.

Pick 14.10: Taysom Hill TE/QB (bye 12). I'm hearing that he may have an expanded role? Worth a flyer pick perhaps if he's TE-eligible in your league.

Pick 15.03: Ka'imi Fairbairn K (bye 14).
