12-Team Mock Draft from Position #10 (FantasyPros Sim) 8/14/2024

Another 12-Team FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulation, this time from position #10. Even though I got a higher grade than my previous 12-team draft, I didn't feel like this one went well at all. My grade was a B- (80/100); so not that much better, and I felt like I got lesser-quality picks at a majority of the rounds compared to when I drafted from slot 6. For my next draft, I think I need to make a list of player tiers. That's generally a good strategy anyway; so having done a number of drafts now, I should have enough info to "rank" the players into tier groups by now.

Pick 1.10: A.J. Brown WR (Bye 5). Other options: RB Jahmyr Gibbs and Jonathan Taylor. WR Puka Nacua. I have Brown as the next pick after my elite eight. Garrett Wilson went at 1.09.

Pick 2.03: Puka Nacua WR (Bye 6). Other options: WR Davante Adams. RB Travis Etienne. QB Josh Allen. The four picks that went after 1.10 were all RBs (Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Jahmyr Gibbs, Kyren Williams). I think I would have taken any of them over Puka. I maybe could have considered Derrick Henry here.

Pick 3.10: Alvin Kamara RB (Bye 12). I think this is the first time I've drafted Kamara, mostly because I'm wary of his age, but I guess there's no reason to believe he still won't get lots of passes from Derek Carr. He certainly seemed a better option than the other FP recommendations: Jalen Hurts, Mike Evans, Trey McBride.

Pick 4.03: Josh Jacobs RB (Bye 10). I would have taken James Cook here, but he has the same Bye week as Kamara. This is probably the first time this year I've changed a pick because of a Bye conflict. Lamar Jackson, Deebo Samuel, and Trey McBride were available here.

Pick 5.10: Mark Andrews TE (Bye 14). I've been happy to grab Andrews in Round 5 of 10-team drafts, so getting him with pick 58 was a surprise.

Pick 6.03: Kyler Murray QB (Bye 11). I took Kyler with Pick 5.06 in the last draft; so maybe I'm too high on him. FP suggested that I would have been better off with Christian Kirk, but I prefer getting the last veteran running QB here.

Pick 7.10: Calvin Ridley WR (Bye 5). Ridley was regarded as a possible top 10 receiver a year ago. Now, he's available at the same range as Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Filling the Flex spot with a WR is probably better than grabbing Raheem Mostert here.

Pick 8.03: Tony Pollard RB (Bye 5). I had not drafted Pollard yet this year. I didn't see, but should have considered Jonathon Brooks here.

Pick 9.10: Chase Brown RB (Bye 12). Jerome Ford, Brian Thomas Jr, Jakobi Meyers. The pickings seemed kind of slim here already.

Pick 10.03: Jayden Daniels QB (Bye 14). I've now grabbed Daniels in all but one of my mock drafts so far. He is this year's Anthony Richardson, in my opinion.

Pick 11.10: Jake Ferguson TE (Bye 7). Mark Andrews is an injury risk. Ferguson is a top-ten TE, just in case.

Pick 12.03: Jahan Dotson WR (Bye 14). Surely I could find somebody better here. I was hoping J.K. Dobbins would make it around the turn, but he was gone. If I had taken Dobbins in Round 11, I maybe could have still gotten Brock Bowers here as my backup TE.

Pick 13.10: Michael Wilson WR (Bye 11). For all we know, he could be the top Arizona receiver, even though everybody is projecting a rookie there. I miscounted the number of rounds in this draft; so I probably could have taken a DST at this spot instead, which would have allowed me to take the best kicker in the draft in the next round.

Pick 14.03: Chiefs DST (Bye 6).

Pick 15.10: Younghoe Koo K (Bye 12).
