Mock Draft: Live Yahoo 10-Team (Position 9)

Okay, I need to start doing Daily Mock Drafts again. Today, I decided to do a Yahoo Live Mock Draft. I clicked on position 8, and it gave me position 9. I still haven't done any draft planning yet. I think I'll try to draft from each slot at least once before I start building position tiers or doing any stat analysis. It looks like Yahoo doesn't give grades for Mock Drafts. I'm reasonably happy with how this one turned out.

.09 Christian McCaffrey RB (bye 14). Yahoo was suggesting Malik Nabers here. As much as I like Nabers (who led me to a Fantasy Championship last year), his quarterback play is questionable, and he's dealing with at least two injuries. I'd prefer Nico Collins. But, I would have taken CeeDee Lamb here, but he went with Pick 8. McCaffrey has the capability of being the #1 Fantasy star overall; so I think he's the right pick here.

.02 De'Von Achane RB (bye 12). With Jonnu Smith gone, Achane seems lined up for a huge workload in the passing game and seemed like too good a value to pass up here, even though it means I'm going to miss out on top tier WRs.

.09 Trey McBride TE (bye 8). Brock Bowers went 3.06. This seems to be a good place to lock in one of the top two TEs.

.02 Jayden Daniels QB (bye 12). Garrett Wilson, Tyreek Hill, and Terry McLaurin were the top WRs available; so might as well take a top-tier QB here, and he might be the top QB overall.

.09 DeVonta Smith WR (bye 9). I think Smith, George Pickens, and Jaylen Waddle all offer great value as #2 receivers on their respective teams.

.02 George Pickens WR (bye 10). Hoping for good things with a healthy Dak.

.09 Calvin Ridley WR (bye 10). Waddle fell to 7.08; so I just missed him. Ridley is quite a step down, but I still need to load up on WRs.

.02 Tetairoa McMillan WR (bye 14). Stashing perhaps the second best rookie WR and waiting for his breakout.

.09 Tyrone Tracy RB (bye 14). Looks like he will be the starter, and I need RB backups with two injury-prone starters. Joe Mixon didn't get picked until 9.07, which was a great value in this round.

.02 Jauan Jennings WR (bye 14). 49ers wide receiver corps is decimated. Whoever ends up starting should be worth more than a tenth-round pick.

.09 Matthew Golden WR (bye 14). Another rookie WR stash.

.02 Jerome Ford RB (bye 9). Quinshon Judkins is presumably out of the picture. Dylan Sampson looks like a third-down back. Ford should be a serviceable starter, if needed.

.09 Jaydon Blue RB (bye 10). Should I draft a second QB or grab what could be this year's Rico Dowdle? Looks like there are still plenty of decent waiver-wire QBs left.

.02 Pittsburgh DEF (bye 5). Denver Defense went 14.01. Maybe I should have grabbed them in round 13 and hoped Blue would make it here instead.

.09 Evan McPherson K (bye 10). Cam Little, of 70-yard field goal fame, was my sleeper pick, but he was taken 15.07. McPherson is probably the kicker on the best offense left; so I grabbed him. Because I was drafting 9th of 10, in a real draft, I probably would have grabbed a random lottery ticket here to wait until the first games start to pick a kicker off of waivers. Last pick taken was PIT Boswell, not sure why Yahoo didn't update the draft board.
