Mock Draft: Live NFL.com 10-Team (Position 5)

Okay, one more draft today. This time on NFL.com (because one of my leagues uses this site). I picked in slot 5, but this draft ran very similar to the one where I picked from slot 9 earlier on Yahoo. It also looks like this site does not give a draft grade.

1.05 Saquon Barkley RB (PHI) Well, I heard today that the Philly defense is returning nearly all of its starters in a Vic Fangio scheme that took a half season to come together last year. So, that could mean that the defense will be even better this year? So even more running out the clock by the RB? Lamb is rated higher on this site; so he actually went 1.02 after Chase.

2.06 Ashton Jeanty RB (OAK) Okay, two drafts in a row where I start RB-RB. It seemed like too good a value to pass up here, but I was going to regret not getting a WR with one of the first picks later.

3.05 Trey McBride TE (ARI) I was prepared to take McConkey, but he went with 3.04. I wished now that I had taken a receiver earlier, as I don't like McLaurin, Smith-Njigba, or Garrett Wilson this high; so I picked McBride for the third time in the 3rd round in three mock drafts.

4.06 Jayden Daniels QB (WAS) I took Daniels at 4.02 in the last draft. Marvin Harrison or Rashee Rice were WRs on the board.

5.05 Rashee Rice WR (KC) No suspension yet. If he plays like he did last season before he got injured, he's worth having on the roster for this draft price even if he does miss six games.

6.06 Calvin Ridley WR (TEN) Looks like I took Pickens at 6.02 on Yahoo, but he was ranked much further down here on NFL.com.

7.05 Travis Hunter WR (JAX) I forgot to take Pickens because I got distracted seeing Travis Hunter still on the board. Pickens went 7.07.

8.06 Alvin Kamara RB (NO) Last year, Kamara fell and I didn't take him. Don't want to make that mistake here.

9.05 Jaylen Waddle WR (MIA) He should not have fallen this far either. He is in his prime. Tyreek Hill is over the hill. RJ Harvey was still on the board as well.

10.06 Jauan Jennings WR (SF) Same pick I made on Yahoo at 10.02. Aaron Jones was still available here.

11.05 Tyrone Tracy Jr RB (NYG) I took Tracy at 9.09 on Yahoo.

12.06 Matthew Golden WR (GB) I took Golden at 11.09 on Yahoo. I noticed at this point that two of the drafters had left and were being auto-drafted. Always an issue with Live Mock Drafts, but then it could happen in Live drafts, too.

13.05 Jaydon Blue RB (DAL) Good to know that this Round 13 lottery pick is available both on Yahoo and NFL.com.

14.06 Texas DST (HOU) Noted that NFL.com doesn't rank the defenses. It just sorts them alphabetically. So, the Broncos, who are a good defense, go early, but then the Buccaneers are going to show up after them, and they are not going to be the second best DST.

15.05 Cam Little K (JAX) This time I get to grab the 70-yard field goal kicker, but I don't think any of my leagues give a bonus for 60+ field goals; so this is probably not practical.

Mock Draft: FantasyPros Simulator 10-Team (Position 3) Grade A

Okay, I decided just to do my first Mock Draft this year on FantasyPros.com, having done no preparation so far. This just uses a simulator for the other nine teams and isn't against real people, but it's a good first start, and there's no clock; so I don't have to rush my picks as much. I selected 10-Team PPR with QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, Flex, K, DST. It randomly assigned me draft slot 3. 1.03 WR CeeDee Lamb . Justin Jefferson was the other option here. I decided to go with the one with a more established QB. 2.08 RB De'Von Achane . Ladd McConkey was the WR option. I'm not convinced the Chargers aren't going to go back to the running game. Brock Bowers was available here, but seems a little too rich still. 3.03 TE Trey McBride . McConkey is still on the board. Locking in a top TE seems reasonable. 4.08 WR Tee Higgins . Real 10-Team Draft (NFL.com) From Position #10 (8/25/2024)

Yes, all my mock drafts were leading up to this, my actual fantasy football draft on NFL.com. Now, our league commissioner has built some idiosyncrasies into the league, which affected my draft slightly. In addition to being a PPR league, there is a 0.5 point bonus per rushing attempt. This kind of makes it like a half-PPR league in a way, but it also boosts the value of running QBs. Then, on top of that, there is an end-of-year payout to the team whose quarterbacks score the most points for the season. Similarly, there is an end-of-year payout for top-scoring defense through the season. There is a payout for the highest single-week running back performance, and a payout for the highest scoring week overall. I was randomly given the #10 position, which is probably my least favorite position this year, but I did notice that it does come with the bonus of getting the #1 waiver spot to start the season. 12-Team Mock Draft from Position #3 (FantasyPros Sim) 8/15/2024

Well, I did create a tier sheet, and then I forgot to use it for this FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator . Three of my top four receivers have byes in Week 6, which would hurt me here. I need to pay more attention to the bye week before clicking that Draft button. FP gave me a B- (81/100), which was a measly one-point improvement over yesterday's draft  and a projected sixth place finish out of 12 teams. Pick 1.03: Tyreek Hill WR (bye 6). I think Tyreek should go #2 overall because CeeDee Lamb's status is still up in the air a little. Should I consider an RB here? Projections are Breece Hall (301.1)+Jaylen Waddle (228.3) versus Tyreek (325.1)+Rachaad White (237.0), nearly two points a game; so taking the WR here is much better. Pick 2.10: Cooper Kupp WR (bye 6). Stacking my top two picks with the same bye week doesn't seem like a good move.
