10-Team PPR Mock Draft From Position #3 (FantasyPros Live) 8/11/2024
Today, we have a live draft (against other live players) on Fantasy Pros because I wanted to see whether the preseason week 1 performances have affected the draft positioning at all. I also decided to start tracking Bye weeks of the players I'm drafting, though I didn't really take that into account much when picking players, as I ended up with three starters on Bye for Week 9 and three starters on Bye for Week 14. I did not have a good plan at the end of this draft. I need to decide how many RBs and WRs I want on my bench, probably based on the quality of starters I get in the earlier rounds. FantasyPros gave me a B (86/100) for this draft with a projected third-place finish. Hopefully, if I keep doing this, I'll start to get a little better.
Pick 1.03: Tyreek Hill WR (Bye 6). I still have Tyreek ranked above CeeDee Lamb because of Lamb's holdout status.
Pick 2.08: Kyren Williams RB (Bye 6). Travis Etienne is ranked higher, but as far as I can tell, Kyren is supposed to have the same role he did last year; so he should be the better pick. FP suggested Drake London here. FP consensus projections for Kyren (246.1) + Michael Pittman (231.1) are just slightly higher than London (240.9) + Isiah Pacheco (235.6). But, I should have taken Cooper Kupp (235.8) over Michael Pittman anyway; so I think Kyren is the better pick here.
Pick 3.03: Michael Pittman WR (Bye 14). I think Cooper Kupp is a better pick here, and Mike Evans and Nico Collins are probably better here too. FP also suggested De'Von Achane, Jalen Hurts, and Sam LaPorta.
Pick 4.08: James Cook RB (Bye 12). Derrick Henry went with Pick 4.07. Maybe he would have been a better choice at Pick 3.03 as well. I'm happy to get Cook in Round 4. Josh Jacobs and Alvin Kamara were also available. DeVonta Smith and DJ Moore were receiving options.
Pick 5.03: Deebo Samuel WR (Bye 9). Seems like the better value two rounds after Brandon Aiyuk. Malik Nabers is still on the board here (he went with Pick 5.04). The running backs are starting to get weaker, Joe Mixon and Kenneth Walker are the top ones available.
Pick 6.08: George Pickens WR (Bye 9). I was hoping Mark Andrews (Pick 6.06) would make it here. With Keenan Allen, Tank Dell, Terry McLaurin, Diontae Johnson, and Chris Godwin still on the board, it didn't seem necessary to grab Pickens here, but now the RB options really did not look interesting (David Montgomery and D'Andre Swift), and it seemed too early to take Kyler Murray here.
Pick 7.03: C.J. Stroud QB (Bye 14). Kyler went with Pick 7.02. Rashee Rice went with Pick 8.01; so he might be moving up, now that it's starting to look like he might even avoid a suspension this year.
Pick 8.08: Javonte Williams RB (Bye 14). Jaylen Warren or Tony Pollard?
Pick 9.03: George Kittle TE (Bye 9). Certainly has TE1 upside, especially if Aiyuk ends up being traded. I'd rather have him than Engram who went with pick 8.09.
Pick 10.08: Jayden Daniels WR (Bye 14). I've been drafting Daniels in Round 10, and I was curious to see whether his preseason performance would bump him up a round. He does have the same Bye week as CJ Stroud; so I should avoid this pairing when I draft for real. I could have taken Zack Moss here.
Pick 11.03: Jonathon Brooks RB (Bye 11). The injured rookie, presumably the best of this year's rookie class when he's healthy.
Pick 12.08: Cole Kmet TE (Bye 7). The clock pressured me into this pick, as I didn't know who to take. There were nine tight ends taken in this round; so I could have taken Jake Ferguson instead of Brooks in Round 11. I would have been much happier taking Keon Coleman, who went with the next pick, had I noticed him still on the board.
Pick 13.03: Jameson Williams WR (Bye 5). Another random grab because I didn't have a good plan for the end of this draft. What I should have done here was take my favorite DST because what ended up happening is six DSTs were taken in a row; so instead of getting the second best DST, I got the 8th best.
Pick 14.08: Texans DST (Bye 14).
Pick 15.03: Harrison Butker K (Bye 9).
