10-Team Mock Draft from #8 Position (8/8/2024)

Results of my second Fantasy Football mock draft this year on NFL.com. This one did not go as well as the one I did just a few hours earlier from the #3 spot. Ten team, standard snake draft, PPR, 2 WR+Flex. Thursday August 8th, 5:54pm PDT. Seven of the drafters were computers.

Drafting from the #8 spot:

Round 1: Bijan Robinson RB. I was happy to grab a top-tier RB here, with all the top-tier WRs gone. Using fantasypros.com projections, going RB+WR from this spot is the better option. Bijan (292.5)+Garrett Wilson (262.8) = 555.3. A.J. Brown (277.6)+Jonathan Taylor (259.1) = 536.7, so a difference of just over a point per game.

Round 2: Garrett Wilson WR. Saquon Barkley and Jonathan Taylor were available, but not good enough to go RB+RB here. Marvin Harrison Jr, Drake London, and Davante Adams were other WR options.

Round 3: Rachaad White RB. I think I was unreasonably worried that we would run out of RBs, but this year seems to be different. So, I probably would have been better off taking Michael Pittman or Jaylen Waddle here. Deebo Samuel and Amari Cooper were also still on the board. Kenneth Walker and James Cook were other RB options.

Round 4: Malik Nabers WR. After getting him in Round 6 in the draft I did earlier, I definitely reached here. I didn't like the options on the board, but Trey McBride or Jalen Hurts would have worked out better for my team here. I think DeVonta Smith would have been a better WR pick here as well.

Round 5: Josh Jacobs RB. I also considered Stefon Diggs and Patrick Mahomes here. Calvin Ridley, D.J. Moore were here. Joe Mixon would be the next RB taken, and I think Jacobs is a step above.

Round 6: Tee Higgins WR. Again I passed over Diggs. Christian Kirk, Alvin Kamara, Diontae Johnson were here. Anthony Richardson would be gone by the end of this round; so if I wanted to grab him, I would have to have done it here.

Round 7: Stefon Diggs WR. I'd already let him go past twice, decided I couldn't let him slide any more. Zamir White and Jake Ferguson were the next players taken before the computers took over to draft defenses and kickers.

Round 8: Jordan Love QB. I got him in Round 10 in the draft I did earlier, but for some reason I felt quite a bit more desperate in this draft, apparently. Or, I didn't want to take Zay Flowers or Keenan Allen.

Round 9: D'Andre Swift RB. I got Swift a round later than I took him in the earlier draft. Terry McLaurin and Chris Godwin went off the board before my next pick.

Round 10: Jayden Daniels QB. Second draft in a row that I've taken the Love/Daniels pair, though I drafted them both two rounds earlier this time. Rashee Rice and Rhamondre Stevenson were still available here this time.

Round 11: Evan Engram TE. Finally grabbing a tight end. The pickings seemed slimmer than I had been hoping. Gus Edwards and Rome Odunze were still available at this spot.

Round 12: Khalil Shakir WR. Maybe Josh Allen's #1 WR this year? Seemed like a better flyer than Jordan Addison or Jameson Williams. David Njoku and Dallas Goedert were also still on the board. The next pick was Ezekiel Elliot.

Round 13: Brock Bowers TE. Needed an alternative at tight end, this one seemed like it at least has good upside.

Round 14: Cowboys DEF.

Round 15: Ka'imi Fairbairn K. In a ten-team league, kickers for potentially high-scoring HOU, IND, NYJ are still available; so no need to reach any earlier than the last pick, it seems.
